Job Description
- Partner with key stakeholders to understand functionality needs for the stochastic expansion planning software
- Work with the team to develop real-world test cases to prove the capabilities of the tools as they are built
- Develop input data formats for the new tool, collect data and model it in those formats
- Assist with the development of a real-world proof-of-concept analysis establishing and demonstrating best practices for the usage of the new stochastic expansion planning model
- Provide software support for the new stochastic expansion planning model to internal and external customers
- Assist with preparing presentations to communicate the findings of the proof-of-concept analysis
Job Requirements
- Bachelor’s Degree in Engineering, Economics, or related field from an accredited college or university
- Knowledge of bulk electric system economics
- 1 – 2 years of academic or professional experience in Power Systems Analysis or the Energy industry
Desired Characteristics:
- Demonstrated application of complex mathematics and engineering to real-world electric power system problems
- Demonstrated experience in Python, including experience with numpy
- Strong communication and problem-solving skills
- Experience with Mercurial, GIT, or other distributed revision control software and developing engineering software tools
- Self-starter with the ability to lead development projects
- Proficient with Microsoft Office Suite
- Demonstrated knowledge of bulk electric system economics
- Experience with Production Cost Modelling
- Experience with Capacity Expansion Planning
- Master’s/PhD degree in Engineering, Economics, or related field
